Chad Hertler
Lead Pastor
A native of Wisconsin, Chad has served as a pastor for more than 20 years in Michigan and in his home state. He graduated from UW-Stout and received a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
He is passionate about teaching the Bible, sharing the gospel, and discipling others.
Chad is married to Melody. God has blessed them with 5 sons (Abe, Elijah, Joshua, Moses, and Titus).
Pastor Chad loves to take his family on road trips to National Parks, fish, camp, follow Wisconsin sport teams, and to have conversations about Jesus.
He is humbled that God would use him to serve the church. Pastor Chad’s pursuit is articulated in Colossians 1:29, “…that we may present everyone mature in Christ.”
One of Pastor Chad’s favorite verses in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Mason Campbell
Associate Pastor
Mason Campbell serves as the Associate Pastor at Highland Crest Baptist Church. He was first licensed to the gospel ministry in 2014 and has served the local church in various capacities ever since. Before coming to Highland Crest in September 2026, Mason served in Birmingham, Alabama, where he graduated from Beeson Divinity School in May 2026 with a Master of Divinity degree.
Mason has a particular heart for equipping believers to serve Christ faithfully. His vision for ministry is rooted in Ephesians 4:12–13, which describes the work of pastors as equipping the saints for the work of ministry and building up the body of Christ. His desire is to see the members of Highland Crest grow in their knowledge and love of Christ, mature in their faith, and use their gifts to serve the church and reach their community with the gospel.
Mason and his wife, Hannah, enjoy exploring their new home in Wisconsin together. In his free time, you can often find him reading a good book, listening to a favorite record, enjoying a cup of coffee, or finding a new hiking spot.
Mason’s life verse is 2 Corinthians 12:9–10, which reminds him that Christ’s power is made perfect in weakness. His prayer is that, through his own weakness, the strength and sufficiency of Christ would be magnified.

bill czaja
Minister of Administration
Bill & Kim have been members of Highland Crest for many years. They have two daughters, Abbey & Sadie. Bill is an engineer for Georgia Pacific and recently reduced his hours, anticipating future retirement. He felt the Lord leading him to use his "extra time" to minister to the needs at the church and to assist the pastor with ministry and administration tasks. The Czajas (pronounced Chai-ya) have taught 4th-5th grade Sunday school for over 25 years at HCBC. Bill also oversees the finance team, serves as an usher and deacon, and occasionally helps out in the nursery!
